An hour ago, I spoke to business class at a midwestern Catholic university about my experience at Connected Ventures, etc. They asked whether they could see a few examples of Busted Tees. Up until this point, mindful of some faculty sitting in the back row, I avoided showing any content from the CV family of sites because I realized there’s not too much on CollegeHumor that wouldn’t offend at least a couple of people in any room, especially at a Christian school. Anyway, put on the spot, I relented to the BustedTees request, thinking to myself, it’s just a bunch of cute illustrations and punchlines. I gestured to the student manning the computer. We waited patiently for the page to load. OF COURSE! This shirt had to be on sale today and prominently featured up top … Let me tell you folks, the air was thick.

Staying consistent with my current obsession with ludicrously minimalistic design, I redid Reggie’s website tonight, and put up a new video.

Yep, I’m on tour—- four weeks with the ambient assault team ECSTATIC SUNSHINE. It’s been what? 2 years since I touched both coasts? Feels kinda like my first tour ever— I haven’t really kicked it with the post-Tom brave new world of “underground” music, all the new bands are different, and the audiences, too, right? I mean, this might sound melodramatic or insecure or something but it has crossed my mind many times in the last year: is there still a place for me here? “Here” being the world of shows, I guess. You know what I mean.

On the walk home today (beautiful weather in NYC), it dawned on me that the media is simply an extension of corporations’ advertising efforts. Anything that isn’t directly used to promote a company serves an indirect purpose: making that particular outlet tolerable so the overt ads go down easier.
