There’s a place for you at Purchase! I’m totally psyched you’re gonna be at Culture Shock, I’ll see you there!!

sangennaro:

Yep, I’m on tour—- four weeks with the ambient assault team ECSTATIC SUNSHINE. It’s been what? 2 years since I touched both coasts? Feels kinda like my first tour ever— I haven’t really kicked it with the post-Tom brave new world of “underground” music, all the new bands are different, and the audiences, too, right? I mean, this might sound melodramatic or insecure or something but it has crossed my mind many times in the last year: is there still a place for me here? “Here” being the world of shows, I guess. You know what I mean.

I’m planning on playing my cathartic new “Welcome to Camp Echo” set every night, an aural IRFing located at the intersection of Burial, Burzum, and Ba’al timor.

Dan Deacon fans robbed @ Ridgewood Masonic Temple
“Of course they were into it. We were easy prey. The geeky, scrawny white kids—many of which looked ridiculous—had their backs were turned, allowing these “thugs” to easily rummage through our bags that we naively expected to be safely stashed”
Nick and I were at this concert last night. We ducked out a tad early and missed this crazy action. Though I did get a public urination citation from the cops on the way to the subway:(
All things considered, Ed’s interview with Michael Showalter and Dan Deacon’s performance were great.

I’ve been on a web app coding spree as of late so today I’m going to launch another site called WilliamsburgEats.com. Like Subway Crush, this site is also hyper concentrated to New York…but even further to ONLY Williamsburg Brooklyn. The site allows you to sort all of the food in the neighborhood by cuisine and then plot it on a google map with yelp reviews, ratings, photos, and some insider tips for each spot. I thought this would be useful because the only thing truly dedicated to eating out in the neighborhood is FreeWilliamsburg.com and that GIANT list of sometimes outdated information just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I also hope to keep the blog updated with Williamsburg specific food news like restaurant openings, reviews, and whatever else I feel like posting. I’m still having some serious div overflow issues in IE, but everything else seems to be kosher. Drop me a line if you know how to fix that, or have any other problems! WilliamsburgEats.com
Mike is so cool. What a great idea. Hyper-local, minimalist web apps. I mean, one guy can program something like this in a few hours or days. No need for VC or to create a new company. Just build the bugger and go!

For the Passover-challenged:

There’s an after-dinner party at my apartment this Saturday with an extraordinary group of people stopping by. I’m off from the kitchen, but will be around later. If you find yourself in Williamsburg, late-nightish, do stop by. This gentleman will be serving an assortment of fine teas. Saturday. 11:30-late. W&L.

Grand Theft Patent

rickyv:

Just saw the above photo of Rock Star’s new swag box to promote Grand Theft Auto IV and did a double take.

Believe it or not, I invented the giant foam shocker hand in 2004 and actually got a legit US Patent for the stupid thing. Really. So, it looks like Rock Star Games is in violation of United States Patent #D495749S!

Lucky for them, they’re one of CollegeHumor’s biggest advertising clients. Though I must admit a high drama court case over “the shocker” would be a funny thing to see.

That really sucks. They will get away with it.
